Position Summary:

As directed by the Senior Director, Government Advocacy & Operations, the Legislative Representative serves as NAR's primary liaison with assigned members of Congress and their staffs, focusing on building and maintaining relationships with congressional offices. This position supports NAR's federal legislative agenda through direct relationship building, coalition engagement, and bipartisan advocacy efforts. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for assigned congressional offices, developing strong relationships with members of Congress, legislative staff, campaign staff and party committees.
  • Attend congressional meetings, political events, and other industry related activities.
  • Manage PAC budgets for assigned congressional offices in coordination with political team.
  • Draft memoranda and supporting material for NAR-sponsored events and Hill briefings.
  • Provide federal legislative updates to NAR members, state and local REALTOR® associations, and Federal Political Coordinators (FPCs).
  • Facilitate timely access to political and legislative information.
  • Bipartisan participation in coalition work, real estate groups and C4 and C3 foundation activities as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with political field representatives to maximize effectiveness of NAR's grassroots and RPAC activities.
  • Support the Government Advocacy team and work effectively across various internal teams.
  • Assist in production of advocacy talking points for NAR-specific conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of congressional operations and the federal legislative process
  • Proven ability to deliver clear, engaging presentations and speak confidently to members, Government Affairs Directors, stakeholder groups and state associations of varying sizes.
  • Demonstrated track record of working in a bipartisan fashion across political spectrums.
  • Comprehensive understanding of congressional operations and the federal legislative process.
  • General working knowledge of political fundraising matters and regulatory processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across party lines.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision while effectively collaborating within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, adapt, and manage short & long-term plans and strategies.
  • At least 3-5 years of related federal legislative, congressional, or public policy advocacy experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Compensation: $135,000-$150,000
