Description

Position Summary:
NAR’s Advocacy Group is looking for a Political Representative. The Political Representative is on a team with five other Political Representatives. They are NAR’s primary liaison to its state and local associations and NAR’s membership for awareness and mobilization on Advocacy programs and priorities.  Key responsibilities include recruiting, educating, training, promoting and motivating key REALTOR® activists and general membership primarily on NAR's federal legislative and political agenda. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in tandem with NAR lobbyists’ implementing strategies to promote our legislative priorities;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of all federal legislative priority issues to educate and promote them among NAR members
  • Coordinate RPAC disbursements to pro-REALTOR® federal candidates
  • Implement grassroots campaigns to increase member participation in calls for action in targeted states and congressional districts
  • Assist in building relationships among NAR members and members of Congress as well as cultivating relationships with Congressional District staff
  • Develop strategy and tactics to organize REALTOR® involvement in the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates including designing and developing direct mail and other campaign communication tools
  • Promote and advocate all Advocacy Group programs
  • Other duties, as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience in political organizing and grassroots mobilization
  • Thorough understanding of workings of Capitol Hill, desired
  • Knowledge of the electoral process, campaign management and federal legislative process
  • Results oriented with high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to think in innovative ways to find solutions to problem
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
  • Approximately 50% travel required
