Position Summary:

NAR is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Director of Data Science to join NAR’s IT team. The Director of Data Science will work as a hands-on leader and manage a very capable data science team on a broad range of topics and projects focused on providing actionable insights to key stakeholders and learning more about our members. Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology, the Director of Data Science will be a strategic leader who can take the data science capability to the next level. This individual should have ample experience in driving data science related projects with in-house as well as consulting project teams.

The ideal candidates will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced setting, bring a fresh perspective to the data science domain, be passionate about data and all that can be derived from it, and be a collaborative team player.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shape vision for data science/predictive analytics applications for all areas of the organization
  • Ability to drive data science programs and projects and see them to their successful completion
  • Experience with building analytical models to solve complex problems
  • Hands on experience with data visualization utilizing industry standard tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar
  • Have experience with applications on Azure or AWS and their AI/ML tools
  • Experience with the full machine learning life cycle including predictive data analytics, including data preprocessing model building, and evaluation
  • Research and implement enterprise best practices in predictive data analytics
  • Identify and implement appropriate technologies and techniques, from a non-analytical such as data store and analytical perspective such as models like Neural Networks
  • Identify, evaluate, build, and implement infrastructure and methodologies for enhanced data collection, storage, cataloging, descriptive analysis and predictive modeling and presentation
  • Design technological solutions that ensure data completeness and accuracy across data mining initiatives
  • Design technological solutions that ensure reporting consistency across analytical initiatives
  • Deliver data products and dashboards that help enhance understanding of organization trends, and support member’s businesses
  • Connect and collaborate with data science leaders and experts within and outside of the industry and keep pulse on data science innovations and ensure that REALTORS® are at the forefront of data-driven innovation
  • Educate, mentor, and train the data science team, other IT teams, staff, and members on data science
  • Other duties, as assigned
 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of overall data science experience
  • Working knowledge and experience in Cloud, endpoint, server, database, application, and cyber security
  • Detail, problem solving, and great organizational skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to provide appropriate level of detail (verbal and written) to both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Results oriented with high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
  • Highly collaborative and team oriented
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
