Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Advocacy Officer, the Vice President, Political Advocacy, serves as the team leader for 18 of NAR’s political staff and is responsible for administering a budget of $45 million. The Vice President works in collaboration with advocacy team leaders to expand and modernize political programming.  This position will oversee the fundraising efforts of one of the largest, most bipartisan Political Action Committees (PAC) in the country.  Additionally, this individual will help lead innovative efforts to educate and train members on political programming, plan and implement REALTOR® Party activities (a collection of programs, grants, and resources to help REALTOR® associations advance public policies, candidates, and strong communities), and work closely with state and local Association Executives and Government Affair Directors on advocacy related activities at all levels of government.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage NAR political and campaign activity at the state and local level, in cross collaboration with national advocacy team members.
  • Overseeing operations related to state and local candidate independent expenditures and public issues advocacy activity.
  • Lead NAR PAC Fundraising Programs, including hard and soft dollar fundraising, online fundraising activity, and state and local association outreach to assist with raising PAC dollars at the state and local level.
  • Coordinate with NAR Political Field Representative team in conducting candidate outreach and educating state and local associations on Advocacy and REALTOR® Party related resources.
  • Oversee training and educational activities for Realtor members, Association Executives, Government Affairs Directors, and association staff, as well as other Advocacy related training for staff and members.
  • Identify opportunities for association to modernize political, fundraising, and campaign strategies and execution
  • Other duties, as assigned and directed by the Chief Advocacy Officer
 

Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years of related experience and leadership with large scale political operations, campaign management, and political compliance
  • Demonstrated experience in national, local, state, and political efforts to connect at a national level; Previous work with both independent expenditure and issues-based campaigns
  • Eagerness to work across party lines in identifying opportunities and supporting the mission of NAR and its members
  • Proven track record of successfully managing vendor relationships and large-scale contracts
  • Ability to develop, adapt, and manage short & long-term plans and strategies to create value
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation, and ability to engage our members across the country in a responsive manner
  • Ability to travel up to 20% (once business travel resumes)
