Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, VP of Litigation, this position will support the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in navigating legal challenges, ensuring we uphold the highest standard of legal and ethical conduct while minimizing risk across our operations. The position will be responsible for NAR's insurance program including reconciling invoices/payments, validating policies and communicating with covered entities. The position will play a key role in facilitating internal compliance and risk mitigation protocols across NAR's business teams. The ideal candidate will have in-house or trade association risk mitigation and insurance experience at a highly-matrixed organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise NAR and affiliated entities on all legal aspects of insurance policies, coverage, claims and regulatory compliance.
- Draft, review and negotiate insurance policies, renewals, endorsements, and related insurance contract documents.
- Manage insurance claims, reconcile payments, and oversee dispute resolution.
- Provide ongoing risk management guidance to various NAR groups, teams, affiliates and subsidiaries.
- Design and implement NAR and REALTOR® Association policies and training regarding insurance and risk management.
- Oversee special projects as determined by the Legal Team.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house counsel position is strongly preferred.
- Significant experience in managing an insurance portfolio, policy drafting and revising, and claims management - preferably in-house for a highly-matrixed organization or at a law firm with insurance specialization.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant insurance regulations and coverage analysis.
- Skills in contract negotiation and managing relationships with insurers and other outside third-party vendors.
- Results oriented with high attention to detail and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
- Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with timely, relevant and professional responses to all inquiries.
Compensation: $120,000-$160,000
