Description

This is a hybrid position based in the Chicago office.

Position Summary:

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) seeks a sharp, polished Senior Financial Analyst to join a high-impact FP&A team reporting directly to the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis. This role sits at the intersection of financial strategy and operational execution, translating complex data into the insights that drive NAR’s planning, investment, and leadership decisions.

You will be a visible partner to senior leaders and executives across the organization, guiding the full budgeting and forecasting cycle, building out NAR’s NetSuite Planning & Budgeting platform, and delivering financial clarity. The ideal candidate brings intellectual rigor, executive presence, and the ability to move fluidly between deep analysis and boardroom-ready communication.

We are looking for someone with a track record of owning complex financial work streams end-to-end and who is energized by the opportunity to shape how a large, mission-driven organization understands and manages its financial performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Forecasting

  • Lead the development of annual budgets and long-range forecasts, partnering with department heads to gather inputs, challenge assumptions, and ensure alignment with NAR’s strategic plan.
  • Own the annual plan and forecasting calendar and drive accountability across the organization for timely, accurate submissions.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities within the financial plan and bring forward recommendations to senior leadership.

Management Reporting and Executive Communication

  • Own and deliver monthly management reporting packages for senior leadership, presenting financial performance with clarity, context, and a point of view.
  • Analyze financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior year — surfacing the story behind the numbers and recommending corrective actions where needed.
  • Identify trends, variances, and translate data into actionable insights that drive executive decision-making.
  • Serve as a confident, credible presence in executive settings able to field questions, defend analysis, and communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
Systems and Process Improvements
  • Buildout NAR’s NetSuite Planning & Budgeting platform, serving as an internal subject matter expert and primary driver of adoption.
  • Design and deliver user training, documentation, and change management support to ensure organization-wide proficiency.
  • Continuously improve budgeting and forecasting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Champion best practices in FP&A, bringing external perspective and a continuous improvement mindset to everything the team produces.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Act as a dedicated finance business partner to key departments, providing strategic counsel, financial modeling support, and ongoing performance insights.
  • Build trusted relationships across the organization, helping instill a culture of financial accountability and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure financial data integrity and reporting consistency across systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA or CFA designation a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience in FP&A or Corporate Finance, with a demonstrated track record of owning complex analytical work streams independently from inception through executive presentation.
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills and advanced Excel proficiency; experience building models that are used and trusted by senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to present financial analysis and recommendations to senior leaders with the confidence, polish, and composure to hold the room and drive decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite Planning & Budgeting strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau; ability to translate complex data sets into clean, compelling visuals for executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels without direct authority.
  • Intellectually curious and proactively minded — someone who asks the next question, spots what others miss, and brings a point of view to the work.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver without close supervision.
Compensation:$100,000-$120,000 depending on office location
