Description

Position Summary:

The Vice President, Information Technology provides guidance to a staff of more than 30 located in the Chicago, IL and Washington, DC offices and leads the overall security and business strategy of NAR’s IT systems. The Vice President implements new technologies across the organization and manages ongoing upgrades to systems independently and in partnership with IT vendors, while ensuring the organization maintains compliance with laws and regulations. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the overall security and business strategy of IT systems (stays informed of federal, state, and local laws/ regulatory requirements, assesses impacts, and communicates changes to the business)
  • Oversees the operation of a national membership database and a billion dollar e-commerce platform used by 1.3 million members
  • Leads the implementation of new technologies across the organization (including communication and education; project management and collaboration across IT areas (e.g., software team, desktop team) to build, pilot, and rollout to the entire organization)
  • Collaborates with each business unit throughout the organization to identify and implement technology solutions to maximize efficiency, enhance operations, and drive results
  • Partners with and manages vendor relationships across a variety of IT services (e.g., new/upgrades to existing hardware and software services, conducting training, hosting user groups and trade shows, handling committee reporting)
  • Oversight of IT budget and regular reporting on key metrics and trends
  • Other duties as assigned
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible IT experience
  • At least 7 years of demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • Expert level proficiency in a variety of operating systems, software, and languages
  • Stays abreast of industry changes to make timely recommendations of new technologies and resources
  • Ability to communicate with staff/customers about technical issues in a non-technical way
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships to create buy-in
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
