Description

Position Summary:

The Manager, Advocacy Communications supports NAR’s advocacy communications and outreach efforts to ensure that NAR is positioned as the most credible, trusted source of real estate information on Capitol Hill; among state and local officials; and in major national, regional, and local media outlets – including print, broadcast, and online/social media. This person will be tasked with implementing NAR’s strategic communication plan, incorporating key messages and providing day-to-day operations support to the Advocacy Communications team. The position reports to NAR’s Director, Advocacy and PR Communications.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help implement NAR’s strategic advocacy communications plan and key messages.
  • Build relationships with and provide support for local and state REALTOR® associations to ensure that NAR’s advocacy and priority issues messaging and communications are consistent across all levels of the REALTOR® association network.
  • Develop strategy and recommend content direction for Advocacy newsletters targeted to state and local association audiences.
  • Draft and edit advocacy communications outreach materials, including press releases, web content, social media posts, speeches, talking points, newsletters, REALTOR® magazine stories, and other materials.
  • Work collaboratively across NAR's Advocacy team, capture details and strategically translate facts and information into compelling copy that connects with, engages, educates, and motivates target audiences.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
 

Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of relevant communications experience.
  • Experience on Capitol Hill, the executive branch, or a similar Washington, D.C. trade group or nonprofit; and/or a state or local government
  • Exceptional writer with experience in feature and speechwriting and writing for mass audiences
  • Strong ability to copy edit and review materials written by others
  • Ability to maintain quality standards and meet deadlines under a heavy workload and have proven ability to develop and manage teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, adapt, and manage short & long-term plans and strategies to create value
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
