Description

Position Summary:

As part of the Marketing, Communications and Events group, the Director, Strategic Sourcing will report to the Vice President, Meetings and Events and will be primarily responsible for selecting and contracting citywide meetings for major conferences.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee site selection and bid process for major meetings.
  • Oversee major meetings hotel and convention center contracting.
  • Lead strategy on major meeting contract management.
  • Lead major meetings contract fulfillment through housing management.
  • Oversee advance and onsite registration technology.
  • Oversee budget including revenue reconciliation and expense payments for all of Meetings & Events.
  • Manage team of 4 managers of planning, housing, registration, and budget.
 

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of site selection experience with convention centers and hotels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, adapt, and manage short & long-term plans and strategies
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and techniques
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
