Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Real Estate Services and Policy Oversight, the Technology Policy Representative will be responsible for providing strategic vision, regulatory, and legislative analysis and industry relations related to federal technology policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop advocacy strategy on technology policy issues working closely with NAR’s volunteer members.
  • Manage regulatory and legislative analysis on federal technology policy proposals such as anti-trust issues, broadband access, data privacy, cyber security, net neutrality, patent reform, and telemarketing.
  • Convey NAR policy positions and housing industry trends to key real estate industry stakeholders, regulatory agency decision makers, Congressional Committee and Members of Congress and their staffs through in person meetings as well as Congressional letters, testimony and regulatory comment letters.
  • Understand the process of managing real estate listing content and the role of multiple listing services (MLS) and other real estate technology platforms used by real estate professionals.
  • Staff NAR’s Federal Technology Policy Committee, including annual Committee business meetings and other committee work including presidential advisory groups and works groups.
  • Collaborate with NAR’s communications team on effective strategies to highlight NAR’s policy positions to NAR members, industry trade groups and the public through summits, webinars, videos and social media.
  • Collaborate with NAR’s Strategic Business and Innovation Technology team to educate lawmakers and other stakeholders on emerging technology impacting real estate
  • Other duties, as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years’ experience working on federal technology policy issues
  • Juris Doctor degree preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Results oriented with high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (once business travel resumes)
