Description

Position Summary:

NAR’s Finance team is looking for a Financial Accounting and Reporting Specialist to join their team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Financial Accounting and Reporting Specialist will be responsible for the receipt & disbursement process for NAR’s REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), including coding/depositing PAC related receipts, balancing general ledger accounts, and processing PAC disbursements. This position will also support other finance functions, including monthly financial statement reporting and year-end audit. The ideal candidate will have a keen attention to detail, a customer-service orientation, and a high level of proficiency with various technology platforms. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the RPAC Accounting Manager to prepare accurate and timely compliance reporting for the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) and State Campaign Finance Agencies.
  • Manages PAC contribution process including analyzing accompanying documents, conducting backend processing once payment is accepted including depositing checks, tracking receipts, and preparing reports.
  • Manages the PAC disbursement accounting process by initiating PAC and other political expenditures (including reviewing and preparing requests to submit to Accounts Payable, preparing correspondence for all political disbursements, and emailing state refund information to appropriate source)
  • Updates the PAC management system with disbursement information.
  • Reviews general ledger transaction details for accuracy and completes month-end balancing.
  • Communicates with internal and external parties to resolve and investigate contribution, disbursement, reporting discrepancies.                                                                                                                       
  • Other Accounting Related Activities:
    • Complete periodic Association Sales Tax & Use tax returns.
    • Assist with the preparation of annual federal and state tax returns.
    • Works with other Finance teams on special projects (including review, analysis and reconciliation of employee and member expense reports)
    • Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports and statements (Including journal entries and excel worksheets). 
    • Prepare annual audit workpapers.
    • Other accounting projects as assigned
 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of related experience in bookkeeping, accounting, campaign financing or financial reporting.
  • Results oriented with high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and to think in innovative ways to find solutions to problems, discrepancies, conflict, etc.
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, Word
