Position Summary:

The Research Team of The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is looking for a highly motivated economist to join our team and research commercial real estate trends. The economist or data scientist will evaluate the commercial real estate market and monitor market conditions, trends and other research. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively and have a desire to work cross-functionally and engage with non-technical NAR stakeholders. This role will require strong research and analytical abilities using economist and data science tools, excellent communication and organizational skills, ownership of projects from start to finish.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Track and analyze all aspects of the commercial real estate market at national and local level
  • Responsible for conducting research and data analysis to understand the drivers of the commercial real estate market
  • Handle and manipulate large amounts of data. Identify data sources, collect the data, plan on how to store the data, clean and analyze the data
  • Represent the data through use of common graphs, such as plots, infographics, and visualizations using Tableau or another software
  • Develop and write research reports
  • Present compelling trends and analysis to NAR stakeholders
  • Support research needs and report to Director of Real Estate Research
  • Other duties, as assigned
 

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience as a economist or data scientist.
  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial real estate analysis is preferred
  • Excellent Excel skills and SPSS or another statistical software skills is a plus
  • Ability to extract, aggregate, and prepare data for analysis.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, both written and verbally, primarily through Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with stakeholders of a trade/member association
  • Good communication skills, as well as an interest in working within a team environment
