Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Campaign Services and Member Mobilization, the Political Advocacy Manager is responsible for the relationship between NAR and the state and local Government Affairs Directors (GADs).  The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of the GAD Institute - an annual event that promotes the education, networking and professional development of state and local REALTOR® Association staff. The Institute provides a forum for GADs to hear from nationally recognized speakers and other GADs on a variety of topics of interest to government affairs professionals.  The Political Advocacy Manager will also work closely with the Campaign Services Team to help manage, develop and deliver curriculum for our Candidate and Issue Training.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspect of the Government Affairs Directors Institute including developing learning outcomes and objectives, marketing for the Institute, and ensuring all preparations for the Institute are handled.
  • Lead staff executive for the GAD Advisory Board
  • Create and manage two professional development courses for the GADs at the NAR Midyear and Annual Meetings
  • Oversee that relevant information flows to GAD Advisory Board and the GAD community via various communications channels including a monthly newsletter and social media outlets.
  • Collaborate with Campaign Services staff and other subject matter experts to design and maintain the curriculum for the NAR Campaign Services Candidate Training Sessions, the Campaign Management School and any other programs developed by the Campaign Services Team.
  • Act as an Instructor for the program as determined and needed by Campaign Services staff.
  • Oversee consultants who may assist with design and facilitation of curriculum.
  • Develop the curriculum for the NAR REALTOR® Party Association Executive and Government Affairs Director Orientation Programs and the NAR Association Executives Institute that focuses on REALTOR® Party activity.
  • Act as a liaison between the state and local GAD’s and the Advocacy area to address issues and concerns.
  • Other duties, as assigned
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of campaign experience at the local, state or federal level. In-depth knowledge of campaign strategy and resources is preferred.
  • Knowledge of legislative process and strategies as well as public policy development at the local and/or state level.
  • Solid interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
