Position Summary:

As directed by the Vice President, Government Advocacy, the Director, Government Advocacy serves as the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) liasion with the United States House of Representatives and various external groups, to further NAR's federal legislative agenda and policy goals.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with members of Congress, congressional staff, the Executive Branch and Political party committees and officials that yield support for NAR's legislative priorities, timely access, and political and legislative intelligence.
  • Work with political field representatives to maximize the effectiveness of NAR's grassroots and REALTORS® PAC (RPAC®) activities, to positively impact the outcome of federal legislative/political initiatives.
  • Develop and manage proactive legislative and political strategies to accomplish federal policy objectives on priority issues within assigned issue areas (federal taxation, housing, real estate finance and business, insurance, among others)
  • Provide strategic and legislative updates to key audiences when the Vice President, Government Advocacy is not available.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
 

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of related congressional and/or public policy advocacy experience and leadership; demonstrated track record of working in a bipartisan manner.
  • Ability to develop, strengthen and maintain strong professional relationships with members of the House of Representatives and their staff, as well as political committee staff.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision to prioritize assignments.
  • Substantive understanding of the federal legislative process and a broad working knowledge of political fundraising matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, adapt, and manage short and long-term plans and strategies to provide value.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in an across various internal teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills - verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
 

Compensation: $160,000-$200,000
