Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Member Experience, the Director of Association Policy will be responsible for supporting the Member Experience mission of empowering and engaging REALTORS® by delivering trusted knowledge, resources, and experiences that elevate member success and professionalism. The Director of Association Policy will provide strategic direction and development of NAR policies relating to membership, association names and jurisdictions, professional standards, Core Standards, Commercial Accreditation, Global Ambassadors, and International REALTOR® Members. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify current issues in the industry as well as member needs relating to NAR’s professional standards, REALTOR® membership, commercial, and global policies.
  • Create and implement strategy to unify various member services, and collaborate with internal NAR teams to deliver the most effective programs and services to members.
  • Identify opportunities to create and plan for development of relevant resources that will address member needs and elevate member professionalism and success.
  • Support appropriate NAR Committees, Advisory Boards, Work Groups, and Presidential Advisory Groups (PAGs) to create and integrate strategic policies relating to professional standards, membership, commercial, and global policies. Apply and interpret these policies for the REALTOR® Community.
  • Train and teach relevant policies to members and REALTOR® associations in order to maintain the Member Experience mission of providing trusted knowledge, resources, and experiences.
  • Collaborate with entire Member Experience, Engagement, and Legal team in order to ensure development of policies that support the overall strategic direction of the team.
  • Maintain a high level view of NAR policies, and how these policies relate to and support NAR’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Oversee a team of direct reports to ensure consistency in developing and interpreting NAR policies; develop and maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative culture; and build structure and performance objectives for the team in furtherance of the Member Experience mission.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (fields of political science, law, or public policy a plus)
  • At least 7-10 years experience in political science, public policy, real estate, or with trade associations, strategically developing and implementing policies and programs
  • Demonstrated experience managing and hiring direct reports, leading a team and developing great team culture, and facilitating their professional growth
  • Ability to understand and explain complex policy initiatives and ideas to a wide variety of audiences
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills and an ability to communicate in a warm and engaging style
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction, including identifying and evaluating the needs of others
  • A passion for learning, new approaches, imagining possibilities, and analyzing hypotheticals in order to develop strategies to solve problems and achieve extraordinary business results
  • Demonstrated enjoyment of working effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals in order to achieve goals in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to travel 3-5 times a year to industry conferences
