Job Level: Paid, part-time internship. Internship requires a semester-long commitment of 10-15 hours/week from September-mid December.
Position Summary:
As the largest trade association in the nation, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) devotes significant resources to Association political advocacy efforts at the federal, state and local levels. The Law Clerk will work with NAR’s Legal Affairs and Advocacy Teams on political law issues, including updating and maintaining political compliance risk management tools and resources. The ideal candidate will have an interest in a career in political law or a background in political law, campaigns or lobbying.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research, identify, analyze and keep current on campaign finance laws, regulations, and related court decisions
- Conduct legal research and provide clear written and oral legal analysis of political law issues
- Keep current on legal issues affecting trade association political activity
- Update and revise risk management tools
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current law student
- Political law experience preferred
- Results oriented with high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
- Ability to think in innovative ways to find creative solutions to problems
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
