Position Summary:

The Marketing Manager, Advocacy is responsible for developing and executing strategic, multi-channel marketing campaigns that elevate NAR Advocacy, communicate member value, and advance pro-REALTOR® policy priorities.

This role is ideal for a marketing and communications professional with direct experience managing advocacy, public affairs, government relations, or trade association campaigns and initiatives. The right candidate understands how to translate complex legislative and regulatory developments into clear, compelling, member-facing communications and campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and action.

This person must be highly attuned to the public policy and advocacy landscape, comfortable working closely with Communications, Digital, Creative, Content Strategy, and Advocacy teams, and able to connect what is happening on Capitol Hill to key business and member issues. Strong writing, strategic thinking, campaign planning, analytics, and stakeholder management skills are essential. This is a marketing and communications role with public affairs and advocacy expertise; it is not a government affairs role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead integrated marketing strategies and messaging for NAR Advocacy initiatives, campaigns, programs, events, and policy priorities that strengthen perceived membership value and promote advocacy impact.
  • Partner closely with the NAR Advocacy team, Communications, Digital, Creative, Social Media, Web, and Content Strategy teams to translate legislative, regulatory, and political developments into effective marketing plans and timely member communications.
  • Create and execute advocacy-focused member education and engagement campaigns across email, web, social, video, paid media, and member communications channels, ensuring consistency in voice, brand, and strategic message delivery.
  • Monitor the legislative and policy environment in partnership with Advocacy staff to ensure campaigns and communications are timely, accurate, and responsive to developments in Congress and the broader public affairs landscape.
  • Help market advocacy programs and efforts that mobilize members and stakeholders around policy issues, advocacy events, grassroots engagement, and calls to action.
  • Serve as the in-house marketing consultant for NAR Advocacy Team and related internal partners, recommending strategy, audience segmentation, messaging, tone, channel mix, timing, and performance optimization.
  • Manage budgets for assigned campaigns and initiatives, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and performance is tracked against goals.
  • Support advocacy event marketing and experiential needs tied to advocacy initiatives, including major meetings, conferences, booth activations, and member engagement opportunities.
  • Lead the development and editing of copy to ensure a clear, concise, persuasive, and engaging voice across all advocacy-related marketing materials.
  • Determine the most effective marketing channels for each advocacy initiative, leveraging owned, paid, and partner-supported channels and recommending new opportunities when needed.
  • Collaborate with Communications and Content Strategy on advocacy announcements, media-facing materials, press support, and reputation-sensitive messaging when appropriate.
  • Use analytics and reporting tools to evaluate campaign performance, monitor KPIs, identify insights, and continuously improve advocacy marketing effectiveness across channels.
  • Track performance across email, web, social, search, paid media, and content engagement, and present recommendations based on data, audience behavior, and campaign outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of marketing experience, including experience in advocacy, public affairs, political communication, or related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder-management, and customer-service skills, with a high level of responsiveness and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing public affairs, advocacy, grassroots, or issue-based marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of the federal advocacy environment, including Congress, the legislative process, regulatory developments, and how public policy issues affect members, industries, or stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex policy issues into clear, engaging, audience-appropriate content.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to connect legislative and regulatory activity to organizational priorities, member value, and campaign opportunities.
  • Solid understanding of how to maintain a consistent style and voice across multimedia platforms.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience working with digital analytics and campaign performance tools, with the ability to interpret and present data, and use data-driven insights to shape strategy and optimization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Affairs, Public Policy, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in real estate, housing, economic policy, or another heavily regulated sector is a plus
