Position Summary:
Empower and engage the REALTOR® community by delivering trusted knowledge, resources, and experiences that elevate member success and professionalism.
The Director of Member Learning champions a culture of continuous learning and leads the strategy, design, development, and delivery of high-impact educational programs that strengthen member value and advance organizational goals. As a key leader, the Director sets the strategic direction for all learning initiatives, oversees curriculum and content development using evidence-based instructional design frameworks, and ensures programs are aligned with industry standards, emerging trends, and member needs. This role applies adult learning principles and learning science to create engaging, effective experiences. This role fosters collaboration, drives innovation through emerging learning technologies, and maximizes the return on investment in learning resources by implementing robust measurement and leveraging data analytics to demonstrate impact.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive member learning strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
- Partner with the VP, executive leadership, and key stakeholders to ensure learning initiatives support business objectives.
- Identify emerging trends, technologies, and instructional innovations to maintain a cutting-edge learning ecosystem.
Learning Needs Assessment & Program Design
- Conduct and oversee organizational learning needs analyses using methodologies such as competency gap analysis, job task analysis, surveys, and focus groups to translate strategic goals into actionable learning plans.
- Apply instructional design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, Design Thinking) to define learning objectives, timelines, resource requirements, and success metrics for all programs.
Curriculum, Content, & Instructional Design Oversight
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the development of engaging learning programs, including instructor-led training, virtual classes, eLearning, certifications, microlearning, and blended solutions.
- Apply instructional design principles including Bloom's Taxonomy, Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction, and backward design methodology.
- Collaborate with SMEs, researchers, and industry partners to maintain accurate, timely, and relevant learning content.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including communications, research, industry relations, SMEs, and partner organizations.
- Source, assess, and manage third-party vendors including LMS providers, content development agencies, assessment platform vendors, video production companies, and accreditation bodies.
- Lead contract negotiations to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Budgeting, Resources, & Operational Excellence
- Develop and manage the learning and development budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.
- Oversee operational planning, workflow efficiencies, and project management practices that support timely delivery of learning products.
Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Establish methods to measure program effectiveness using frameworks such as Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation or Phillips ROI Methodology.
- Define and track key performance indicators including completion rates, knowledge retention scores, performance improvement metrics, and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
- Utilize learning analytics platforms and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Google Analytics) to analyze data, learner feedback, and performance indicators.
- Drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making based on quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all learning programs and content comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Maintain rigorous quality assurance processes for all learning assets.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of instructional designers, content developers, and learning product managers.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Journalism, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in learning and development, instructional design, or professional education.
- Proven track record of designing, developing, and managing successful learning programs and products.
- Experience with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, Section 508) and eLearning technical standards (SCORM, xAPI, cmi5).
- Experience with project management tools (Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet, or similar).
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience using data to drive decisions.
- Ability to lead both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
