Description

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Manager plays both a strategic and hands-on role providing full-cycle HR support to over 120 staff at the Washington, DC office. This position is critical to providing outstanding internal “customer” support and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. As directed by the Vice President, the HR Manager is responsible for proactive evaluation and enhancement of systems to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in delivering services to NAR staff.  The HR manager supports the Vice President to maintain an engaged, competent, and diverse workforce through administering and supporting policies and programs for staff. The position requires confidentiality and utmost discretion.   

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment:  lead recruitment efforts for exempt-level positions; maximize effectiveness of recruiting processes by identifying areas within recruiting efforts for process improvement; partner with hiring managers to create search strategies; prepare advertisements; build and maintain relationships with vendor partners; source and interview candidates and assist in hiring decisions; maintain applicant tracking system
  • Onboarding:  oversee the onboarding process; prepare/update and distribute onboarding materials; conduct orientation for new employees; coordinate new employee training
  • Training/Workforce Development: collaborate with HR team to manage and facilitate innovative and effective processes and learning solutions around onboarding, benefits, and performance management
  • Benefits Administration:  coordinate enrollment, informational material and correspondence, and record maintenance; conduct staff presentations; manage Leaves of Absences
  • Employee Relations: supports HR protocols for conflict resolution, progressive discipline and other employee matters
  • HRIS and Records Management:  maintain recordkeeping systems for broad range of employment documentation
  • Policies and Procedures:  proactively provide information on policies/procedures
  • Other duties, as assigned
 

Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years professional level HR experience, with at least 5 years of exempt-level professional recruitment and ATS experience
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating a sense of urgency, and results orientation
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
  • Strong professional maturity and judgment; Ability to handle confidential information with discretion; Ability to deliver difficult messages
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office—Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
