Position Summary:

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is seeking a Director of Leadership, Sustainability and Safety to create strategies, expand programs, and educate our members at the national level. This individual will have the opportunity to be seen not only as a thought-leader but also as a driver of positive change in the national landscape.

As the Director of Leadership, Sustainability, and Safety, you will lead and implement strategic initiatives to engage, connect, and prepare our members for leadership roles not only for NAR but for our state and local association partners. You will also strengthen relationships within the sustainability, safety and NAR communities, including REALTOR® members, association staff at all levels, and various other stakeholders.

We are looking for a distinguished, influential relationship builder to spearhead key initiatives in the areas of servant leadership, sustainability in the built environment and REALTOR safety.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the direction and pathway for NAR’s Leadership Academy – a prestigious, year-long program for emerging leaders
  • Lead the direction and pathway for NAR’s leadership training programs and consider how it complements other NAR volunteer leadership goals and resources.
  • Identify and develop innovative leadership training content and use evaluations and feedback to focus on improvements.
  • Oversee the creation, strategic direction and growth of the Sustainability Program, and Sustainability and Resilience Plan Host an annual Sustainability Summit event with high-profile presenters, members, and industry collaborators
  • Oversee strategic direction and growth of NAR’s Safety Program
  • Work with state/local associations, government agencies, partners, and industry groups on developing and implementing sustainability and safety strategies, partnerships, and benefits.
  • Create and drive strategy that effectively drives competent, innovative, and ethical volunteer leaders.
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of emergent trends and member needs to relay those needs to leadership.
  • Maintain integrity with respect to NAR's direction, leadership, mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to NAR leadership on sustainability trends, best practices, and opportunities. Align communications with the strategic policy of NAR.
  • ​​​​​​​Work collaboratively with members and staff to disseminate sustainability and leadership training opportunities.
  • Increase member engagement on topics of sustainability.
  • Other duties, as assigned
 

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in leadership training, sustainability, membership management, small cohort learning, content development, or related roles, preferably within a professional association or non-profit organization.
  • Exceptional presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives and manage projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of the real estate industry is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding and demonstrated experience cultivating online communities, best practices, trends, and technologies.
  • Proficient understanding of marketing campaigns, content, and messaging.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
