Position Summary:

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is seeking a Director of Leadership Communications to lead the planning, drafting and execution of the overall strategic leadership communications plan for NAR. This individual will support the communications of and interact directly with our most senior staff and volunteer leaders working closely with our CMCO and collaborating with other NAR teams including Membership, Leadership Resources and Advocacy.

As the Director of Leadership Communications, you will create and implement various audience focused communication plans that support the real estate industry’s strategic initiatives and leader platforms and focus areas. You will help lead a collaborative effort that will galvanize top member leader volunteers, top NAR executive staff, and engage them in a unified effort that focuses on the association’s mission of member and industry success.

We are looking for someone with an appreciation for supporting and staffing senior leaders as well as a passion for creating compelling stories and visuals that support an organization’s strategic initiatives.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, drafting content and execution for NAR’s senior leaders.
  • Develop and assist Marketing and Communications teams with various audience focused communications plans.
  • In conjunction with the broader NAR Executive Communications team, draft presentations, remarks, talking points, and briefing documents that support the association’s strategic plan and strategic priorities.
  • Provide communication support for priority efforts of the NAR CEO, CMCO, and work with the Executive Communications team in support of the member volunteer leaders.
  • Provide primary writing, editing, and broader communications support for the Marketing and Communications teams and the association’s CMCO.
  • Communicate regularly with Leadership Resources, Executive Communications team, and the office of the CEO to ensure Leadership Team members have everything needed for all events/appearances.
  • Provide copy or substance editing assistance as needed by any NAR team as they draft public- or member-facing written communications.
  • Work with staff from all NAR teams to ensure content is accurate, up to date, and appropriate for the targeted audience(s).
 

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of strategic planning, writing, and editing experience; Demonstrated success advising and writing for C-suite leaders or government/elected officials
  • Ability to work cross collaboratively across all levels of the organization
  • Proven experience with developing strong presentations; Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in developing message platforms and implementing consistent themes throughout multiple planning documents and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering results with a solution-first approach. 
  • An appreciation for the written word and a passion for creating compelling stories and visuals that can connect on an organizations’ strategic plan.
  • Qualified candidates must have advanced knowledge and experience in the execution of integrated marketing and communication programs and campaigns.
  • Ability to maintain quality standards and meet deadlines under a heavy workload.
  • Problem-solving and project-management skills; Expert level proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
